Help Determine Assembly Date
« on: April 24, 2019 - 12:34:58 PM »
I recently added a 70 Barracuda GC to the fleet.  A previous owner swapped a 340 for the 318 and converted the car into an AAR tribute.  It has no door VIN sticker, fender data tag, or build sheet.  The dash VIN tag matches the cowl and radiator core support.  I am trying to have a new door VIN sticker made and need to know the month the car was assembled.  Are there other places I can look to determine it?  Is there a list of VINs with known assembly dates which I can compare to?  The VIN is BP23G0E116818.

Ive been down this road, unfortunately there is not any real accurate way that I am aware of to determine the month of assembly. The best you can do is to look at other fender tags and door stickers from existing cars and extrapolate a reasonable month of assembly.

I found a similar sequence no. with A30 as the production date, so the assambly month on the door sticker could be October or November.

While most months are somewhat possible, it seems that October is relatively common. My 70 challenger RT is an October 69 car, my 73 Barracuda is a October 72 car. I've looked at a lot of tags and this seems to be prevalent. Someone told me that E bodies were built in certain time periods with some anomalies for ordered cars. The "experts" seem to hold this information close to the vest (along with a lot more).
