Stud/Lug Nuts
« on: February 01, 2019 - 11:24:25 PM »
I bought a 8 3/4 rear end with posi. I noticed that the studs are 5/8 of an inch. Is this normal? Where do I get the lug nuts? The rear end is supposed to be out of an E body. Could this rear end be from a truck? it a 5 lug. Thanks

They should be 1/2", at least both of mine are and all of the ones I have seen. Did you get it from a racer? Maybe someone changed them for strength. As for the lug nuts, you are going to have to determine what the thread pitch is, but I would suspect that they are fairly common. Pop one of the studs out and take it to a parts store and ask to look into their Dorman cabinet

I agree, but finding the correct lug nuts will also depend on what wheels you are using. Might want to switch back to 1/2" studs, if they didn't drill out the axles. It would simplify things all around, and is not difficult to do.

I was going to pop out one of the studs and try a 1/2 stud. I hope it hasn't been drilled out. The guy I bought it from wasn't sure what the rear end was in. He did say his grandfather was a dirt track racer.  Thanks
