In a junk yard near my work, sat a 70 Charger 500. I called the guy up earlier today, and said I'd be down to look at it.
He said he saved it from the crusher truck as he discribed it, that's where the truck was headed before he stoped it.
The junk yard owner, told the guy to just deliver it to his place. The Charger was abandoned and the city was towing it off to scrap.
It wasn't registerd since 1988, so he had the state give him a title.
He wanted $2000. for it, so I crawled around it and found the dash vin was off a Coronet, fender tag was right. It had a 383 2v, 727. A/C, 3 speed wipers. Right side frame rails has rust, pans was rusted, grills doors and fender where fine. Had weak undercoating.
Vinyl top was roasted, color was Deep burnt orange, paint look original. Wrong seats off a Buick maybe, it was a complete car, just 20 years of abandoned shape. Could all be fixed I suppose, the body wasn't that bad, all typical Charger rust.
Well, his cell phone was ringing like mad, and people were throwing money over the phone at him without even looking at it. He keeped telling them there's a Chrysler club guy standing in front of me now if he doesn't want it, bla bla bla. He seamed to discribe it better than what I was looking at.
Anyway, while I was thinking about it, he had a truck in the lot that he wanted me to identify what engine it was. Just a little pro bono work on the side I guess.
In the end no moss for me, to much work.
Yess I know pics, pics, pics, sorry
