Engine harness Question
« on: May 15, 2019 - 09:59:37 PM »
Getting ready to install the engine harness on my 70 Cuda. I purchased a new one from Classic for a points distributor as it said in the description that the points version was easier to wire up for a MSD set up. I’ ve since read somewhere that somebody is making a really nice harness already set up for a MSD ignition that wouldn’t have cost much more and would be plug and play.Thinking of going that route. Anybody know who that person is selling those? Thanks for any info.

Not sure who makes a harness but I am not sure why you would need one. Here is the set up

 heavy red = 12v batt
- heavy black = good ground source
- white is your trigger if using points
- orange = goes to the + side of your coil
- black = goes to the negatine side of your coil
- small red = switched 12v , basically ignition (has to have power in both run and while cranking)
- green and Violet wires= go to your distributor magnetic pickup, green to black(m-) and violet to orange(m+)

Thanks again man. I’ll keep what I have then. It’s just a 6AL setup. So the white will be abandoned then correct?

Correct unless you need something triggered like an EFI system.

One thing you will run into is getting the power during run and start. I would have to go back and research it or look at my wiring diagrams, but I believe you tie into the brown and blue wires going to your ballast resistor.
