Front Shocks
« on: January 27, 2020 - 08:26:23 PM »
I finally upgraded my front rims and tires to 15", replacing the original 14 inch rims and tires. Much better stance.
My question is regarding the shocks. I have the OEM style front shocks installed and noticed that there was some slight cupping on the 4 inch front tires.
Could this have been attributed to my switching from a small block(360) to a big block(440) due to the weight increase with those smaller rims/ tires- or could it be that the big block calls for stronger front shocks? (If so, what recommendations are there?)
The car does not bounce and feels "firm" when I test the front shocks.
I just want to make sure the same issue does not affect the newly installed 15" tires.

Thanks

It is possible that the cupping has something to do with the shocks but they would be noticeably worn I would think. More likely it is a front end alignment and/or worn front end parts issue.

Yes, the shocks seem fine. All of the front suspension was redone- all new Hotchkis bushings, etc were installed. Suspension is about 5 years old.

Then I would say it is an alignment issue.
