70' Challenger grill restoration. Guide needed 😁
« on: February 15, 2020 - 02:14:11 AM »
Hi friends.

Are there any guides for restoration of a front grill. My 70' Challenger grill needs a makeover.

How to take apart, colour and lines for the paint

Thanks guys.

I do not believe there is anything written if that is what you are looking for.

Removing the grille is pretty straight forward; remove the headlight surrounds, remove the screws/bolts holding the grill

The grille does not come completely apart without removing some rivets which unless it is severely damaged I would not recommend.

Painting it depends on what you want it to be when done; RT's and TAs had matte black on them and I believe SE's had a silver argent paint on them. Look around the net and find some pictures of what you want the end result to be; then members can help you as needed.

Thanks for the follow up

Its seems to be a pretty easy job. The was the correct paintlines and colors i was worry about.
The plan must be, to strip in down with paintremover and polish the metal up and paint.

Not a lot of magic in the lines, but you need to determine which finish/look you want
