Hemi Prices?
« on: March 02, 2006 - 05:19:10 AM »
Hey, guys, I have found a guy that says he has a 392 Hemi motor that he will sell. He has not given me a firm price, but I wanted to find out from some of you experts what that thing is worth. Supposedly complete from intake to pan, without exhaust manifolds though.
What is that thing worth?

Help me out here!!

I sold one complete  but dissassembled 5 years ago for $500.  It was real hard to find parts then there are a few items being made for the old hemis now so it should be a little easier to assemble parts.

Lots of parts available now for the early hemis, especially the 354's and 392's. Good solid rebuildable 392 cores are going for $1,000 to $1,500 now. Make sure it's a 392 and not something else. Get the number that is stamped on the block right in front of the valley pan and I can tell you what it is.

In the SE a good 392 hemi would be in the $2500 plus range.....go to Hot Heads website and make sure its not an industrial hemi block/heads........http://www.hothemiheads.com/

a lot of these old hemi's have been pieced together over the years...I bought a 354 hemi in a car and could hear it run before I bought it, which is the best way to buy....

If you plan to put it in a E body, I would recommend contacting Chycho Psycho. I recall him saying once that there is some fit issues with the earlier Hemi's.
