Cuda door hinge help needed
« on: November 17, 2021 - 07:56:11 PM »
Hello,
When disassembling my driver upper door hinge to replace pins, I noticed it has a "P" stamped on it. Does that signify passenger side? I can't see the passenger hinge to see if is stamped. It is obvious that the driver door hinge has been replaced at sometime in the past. From the number of poor repairs on this car I would not doubt it is wrong. Sorry for beginner question...I'm a Pontiac freak. I've wanted a Cuda since first seeing one when my dad took me to look for my first car...50 years ago!
Thanks for the help!

I have rebuilt quite a few hingers and never notice any stampings indicating one side or the other. As I remember, they are the same on both sides but I guess i could be wrong.

Thank you! I was hoping that was the case. I'll stick it back in and ignore the "P".

Welcome to the site from Ontario,  :canada:  There were quite a few Pontiacs' in my life, too. My step-father had a Pontiac dealership in the mid 60's and my mom had a 59 Catalina with a 389 in it that she used to pull rocker studs by over-revving it. LOL Good luck

Your mother must have had a heavy right foot! But, didn't take much to pull those pressed in studs out.
