And so we begin!
« on: November 04, 2021 - 08:52:10 AM »
Hi all, looking for any tips you may have as I begin my rebuild. 72 Top Banana Rallye 4 speed. California car, factory ordered without the vinyl top :)
The block was replaced at some point with a 77 vintage 360. The block tested good and has standard bores, and now Ted at Opel Engineering is prepping the block for me to put a 408 stroker kit into it with the help of Dave Hughes and the team at Hughes Engines. Since I'm restoring the car I figure I may as well go with fuel injection. I am sure many of you have been down this path,  so looking for tips or thoughts on the build.  Thanks!

Sounds like a nice car, good luck. I'm going to do a 360 based 408 myself, but I'm an old troglodyte carb guy, so I'm not much use here. I have heard of the Holley Sniper system though.

I have put EFI on a 70 Challenger 440 and my 73 Cuda 416 both of which I put an EFI 6 pack system on, I put a Fitech system on a 330 Desoto Hemi and just put a Fitech tripower EFI system on a 69 Ply Wagon with a 440. All ran great except the last one which I haven't fired yet.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)

OK, so with Dave Hughes' help I decided on his high compression stroker kit. He says that with the CNC porting and combustion chamber work he is going to do to the Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads I just sent him we should be at about 11:1 for compression ratio, and with a mild cam will probably be in the 525 HP range. As mentioned previously I plan on putting the Holley Sniper EFI on this car, and I actually have a Holley Strip Dominator manifold laying around and wondering if that will do, or should I get the Super Victor?? They "look" very similar?...

As mentioned over at FEBO, ask the engine builder for his recommendations when it comes to the intake (and headers)
