New TCI 6 speed automatic for big block
« on: August 08, 2022 - 02:24:24 PM »
There are so many transmissions out there these days for adding to your Ebody.  I have an original 426 1970 dealership replacement block I'm eventually going to have built to around 650 hp. I want to put a transmission/drive line that is pretty bullet proof. My rear is a dana 60 out of a 440 RT/SE that wrapped itself around a pole.  Typical demise in the 70's and 80's due to tire quality of that time.

I saw this advertisement and it is close to what I'm looking for (plus its new).  My disappointment is for that money it only is good up to 650HP.

I'd like to stay with an automatic, have it handle up to 1200 hp and ideas on how to convert my cable speedometer to handle electronic signal.  My dash is a 1970 RT dash.  I'm not buying soon but want to have a clear picture of what good choices are available from the options we have now.  Thanks.  :working:

It looks like you mis-read their info. The text I read says the trans is good for 850hp. Of course at a price of $9000 and no converter, it should! Good luck.

Thank you for your feedback.  The higher HP rating makes me feel better.  :bananasmi  The two items I question next is what I need to do for the conversion of speed cable for my Speedometer and what cross member piece I need to purchase to put it in a 1970 Ebody.  Any thoughts?  :clueless:

There may be a thread here about a similar switch, but failing that, most of the members from here have migrated over to ebodies.org and you may have a deeper well of knowledge there.
