If i was gonna buy a new ring & pinoin, I would find a 742/489 chunk first then a gear for it.

Chryco , how tough is it to go from 3.23 gears to 3.91 's, Also the rear I have has "kisser buttons " in between the axles, that tells me that the raer is out of a pre 69 vehicle , should I find another carrier, or is this one o.k? I am running a 440 , auto, 3800 stall converter, TCI trans manual shift with rev. pattern . I'm not planning on running Slicks, but that could change.

it is easy to have 3.91 gears installed in a center section
the clutch sure grip will be fine , the 741 carrier should live
