heat and AC plenum - has anyone rebuilt one?
« on: July 25, 2005 - 08:46:25 PM »
I started working on the AC system in the Cuda while the engine is out. I bent up some stainless steel "Z" sections to mount the new parallel flow condensor with. I dimpled holes then tack welded flush screws that would provide the studs to mount the condenser with. I cracked open one of the AC boxes and found all sorts of stuff inside. Has anyone rebuilt one of these? I have read the Mopar Muscle article that outlines how SMS or Antique Air does them. Good info and all but there is no detailed reassembly instructions or sources for gasket material. Anyone been there, done that?

BTW, if anyone needs parts let me know - I bought two extra boxes to make sure I had plenty of parts. Can anyone identify what car the vacuum connector in the last picture goes to? Was supposed to be Ebody but looks different than the one in my car  :dontknow:

just talked to these folks; looks like they are going to be selling foam kits for the mopar heater boxes. They are making the ones for AC boxes now. I may have to follow up on this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7989476994&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Heater only kits include:
- Fresh air door foams (D shaped charcoal foams)
- Heat/Defrost door foams (rectangular charcoal foams)
- Hot/Cold door foams (square charcoal foams)
- White poly anti-rattle bushings for 2 of the doors (like OEM)
- Black neoprene foam tubes to seal heater core tubes to firewall
- Black neoprene fresh air to cowl seal (large, black, D shaped foam)
- Off white sealing rope caulk (goes between 2 box halves)
- Black neoprene blower motor to metal pan gasket (round light gray)
- Black neoprene blower motor to firewall seal (large, round, black with big and small holes)
(2 are provided because the factory used one or the other)
