86 360
« on: July 24, 2005 - 05:20:44 PM »
This is a question about the 360 in my ram charger.  It is running rough, still driveable, but just runs rough.  I looked at the plugs and they were a gray/white color.  So I figure they are running lean.  It has a 450 holley vacum secondary carb on it.  I have not done anything yet besides check the plugs.  My question is what direction should I go first.  Timing, Carb, Change the plugs?  What is a good order to go in?  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I would adjust the timing , take out some of the vacuum advance with an allen wrench in the vacuum pot & set total timing
then remove the front fuel bowl & up jet 4 sizes you will need new gaskets to do this , the plugs should be tan in color after crusing at a steady speed for 5 miles or so if the plugs are the correct heat range

Alright sounds like  a good start.  I'll be working on it later in the week and let you know how it goes.  Also I do have a 600 cfm edelbrock laying around.  Do you think that would be better then the 450 holley.

the 360 Really needs a 750 CFM carb , but I feel the Holley is a better carb than the Eddy Carb would be

I have em both so I'll give em a try.  I am maily looking for reliablity and towing capcity out of this truck.  I would like to get the best gas milage out of it too.  I know that might be hard with a truck that weighs almost 5000 pounds.   :nopity:  lol

my 1 ton dually with 4:10's gets 10-12 with a trailor, and 13-15 with out. It has a 318, with a 600 eddie.
