« on: August 01, 2005 - 06:43:21 PM »
ok i blew the rear end in the challenger about 2 months ago. i knew it was gonna happen cuz it was a 8 1/4 matched up with a 360. my queation to you guys is, can i put a 8 3/4 directly in place of the 8 1/4.will the axles match up. i also went to this site http://www.tonysparts.com/BrowseResults.asp   and saw they had rear ends for sale. are these worth buying and when they mean pumkin is that with gears and all ready to go?

I would get a 8 3/4 rear out of a 65 to 71 B-body car.. and the Mopar Performance spring relocation kit.

Since your not worried about originality, That would be the hot setup for that car....Here is the thread

and or this one

The b-body rears are more common and give you more room in the wheelwell

Hi 360cuda,
Haven't seen you on here for awhile! I got a b-bod 8 3/4 butt out of a 69 satellite as per your suggestion. Quite awhile before
the car will be ready for it, but its there. I don't want to counter the guy who clued me in but I believe the target years are 65 thru
70. 71's are quite a bit wider according to some literature I got here and won't give 360madness the room the other years will. Am
I on track or did I lose it in the first turn?? :dontknow:   Jeff

I know this isn't gonna be much help but my ex put a 'b' body rear end in our 70 se chally and it fit great he had no problems putting it in!! I wish he was still around to ask what year and type 'b' body it was out of but he not so I can't help there!! so this is probably kind of useless huh!! sorry :dontknow: I also know he stuffed N50 tires in the rear after he put that rear end in!!!!!
