Holley experts needed
« on: October 09, 2002 - 10:39:42 PM »
I just rebuilt an original 780 (model 3310) vacuum secondary carb. It has the two metering plates(model 4150). The problem I'm having is that no fuel comes out the primary squirters in the venturi. The bowls are full of fuel and I double checked my accelerator pump and the gasket is good with the spring in the correct orientation. I pulled out the squiter assy which consists of the screw, nozzle squirter, and a needle. Am I missing something? Any leads would be apprecciated.TIA

I assume you have t adjusted properly so there is no play between the pump arm & the lever on the bottom of the bowl ,Make sure the entire passage is not blocked from the bottom of the front  bowl through the metering block up to the squirter , if all that is clear remove the pump from the bottom of the bowl & see if the ball brg is still held in place by the brass strap , if not re stake the brass strip back in place with the ball brg above it, some bow use a rubber diaphragm inside the bowl instead of the brass strip this is a check valve & the pump will not pump fuel up to the squirter if the check valve is not working   ;)

Thanks for the tips Chryco! Problem solved!! The needle under the squirters was sticking(I tried cleaning the carb with Vanish-saw it in an old issue of Car Craft tips, it seems that if you don't completely wash the stuff off,  it becomes sorta sticky). I started from the beginning and checked the accelerator pump,  then the metering block passage and finally the body itself. Thanks for the tip! ;D
