the street Dom intake should work fine with the shaker & it is a great intake , it is very close to stock height

I just went through this last week and solution was easier/cheaper than I thought.  I am finishing up a 71 Cuda, has a tricked out Magnum motor and a 5 speed.  Aside from the intake being too tall for the original shaker components, the motor is tilted back a little due to the 5 speed.  The first picture shows how high the set sat with the stock pieces, the 2nd picture shows the baseplate I made.  Stock baseplates raise the outer ring about a half inch over the top of the carb throat.  I used an aftermarket base that dropped it down about an inch, so an inch and half gain vs stock.  The black part is a piece of 1/8 aluminum that costs 9 bucks at the local steel vendor.  Was able to cut it with a jigsaw, and even tap it just using the bolts since it was aluminum and not steel.  PLENTY stiff enough.  I just wrapped it up last night, put the hood on and it works perfect.  Email me at psrde@aol.com if you need any more help.  Paul
