    i am putting in new  gas tank , in a  73 challenger ,has 4 vent tubes in front of tank , i dont have a line to front for vent  or vapor canister , is there a way  have some type of vent  on the tank or vented cap  that i wouldnt have to run a line to front and add a vapor canister? can i run this with out a vapor canister ?   any ideas on setting this up would be helpful  ,  thanks brett

    Sure you can run the car without the canister.  I guess I would just plug the 4 outlets on the tank and go from there.  I have a 73 cuda and I don't run the lines to the canister.  The canister is still there but not hooked up!  A vented cap will do the trick!!

    hi   there    thanks for info  ,thats what ill do ,just cap off the  tubes. i am going to get the 3/8 inch  fuel line for the 440 cause the car  came with a 318.   thanks again

    Thats a good idea as you would starve that 440 without it!  I had to do the same thing!

    Brett,
       4C, master-moderator has come thru for you.  :thumbs: You don't really need that charcoal cannister unless you are going for the all correct look in your engine bay. As he mentioned, you might need a vented fuel cap if the one you have is air-tight. I'm still running a 5/16 fuel line with my 440, but I have a high-volume fuel pump to help me out. Believe it or not, 440's drink gas.  :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

    the 4 extra lines generally went to a vapor separator in the rear of the car not the canister , at least in 70 -71

    Does the standard gas cap (not flip top) vent?  I ask this because on my 70 the vent line that runs from the tank and into the subframe channel seems plugged.  If the cap is vented then I don't need to do anything Right?

    correct , I`m not sure if your cap will be vented , I think only 70 & some 71s were
