It's Not For Sale!!!
« on: October 04, 2005 - 06:26:11 PM »
We've all heard that before. I have been trying to purchase a '71  'Cuda Convertible from a local man for the last 2 years, I have not actually made him a cash offer because he says that it is not for sale and his kids will get it when he dies. It is a 'Cuda 340 with gilled fenders and unrestored survivor with no rust and looks awesome!! What would be a good offer?  p.s. Lime Green , white top and interior!!

Unrestored survivor 340 71 cuda droptop???? 4 speed or auto ?   you're talking $100K+ there my friend. And the 4 speed would add 20K. Crazy numbers for sure....but probably realistic in todays market.

For that kind of car I would try to get in his will some how!  (Just kidding!)

Do his kids have any interest in it?  I would stay in the picture and be patient.  And have lots of green ready!

Does the guy know what it's worth or is it sentimental value that he's holding onto the car?  Must be breaking your heart to see it there it and it can't be yours....yet!  I would be going crazy!

I don't have 100k!! He doesn't know how much they are worth, but he knows that it is worth something(thank you, Barrett-Jackson @$$**$!!) He is an older gentleman, his father inlaw ordered the car new from a local dealership in '70 and took it to Arizona with him, that is where it stayed until dear ol' dad passed away,it was willed to his daughter, then she passed away and now the ol' boy has it. he has 4 or 5 children, so they are gonna sell it anyway when they inherit it. he doesn't need the money, so there it sits in his garage, it is an auto on the column, colored grille, cassette player, rallye hood, no stipe, everything is original except tires. if I do get a chance to talk to him again I will be sure to take along my digital camera!!!

If it is a survivor, a real survivor then its value is almost indeterminate. The term survivor has been beaten to death much like "restored" and "rare", but if it is a true one and the guy knows it......open wallet wide.

Well, the best way to find out the value is to let me inspect it. Just PM me the guy's address, and I'll get back to you...

Seriously, in our crazy market, that car is worth BIG bucks.

Walking is good for you. It's documented that for every minute you exercise, you add a minute to your life. This enables you to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month.
