Chryco! (302 heads)
« on: October 13, 2005 - 12:00:57 AM »
OK, I have a set of 302 heads, since YOU said they were better that my 675's, then could you please tell me what to do with them?
How much compression can I run on 87 octane?
Any trics different than the older heads?

Thanks!

first get them tested for cracks , then remove the lip behind the head of the valve & shape the valve guides like wings & prot match the heads , have the seat & guides machined if nessisary , have the heads decked to make sure they are flat use springs to match your cam , you will probably have to replace the rotator retainers on the exhaust side

it is common to crack between the intake & exhaust valve seats , not to hard to fix it though

Heads went to machine shop this morning, will check for cracks before porting.
Hopefully they aren't cracked.
The valve guide seals in my truck are getting real bad, in fact, valve guide seals? Whats that?
