71 Challenger RT project pictures
« on: October 16, 2005 - 09:23:00 PM »
Here are some pictures of my 71 Challenger RT. It is a 340 automatic painted it's factory color of Lt. Gunmetal metalic with black interior. It is a loaded car with 727 automatic, performance axle package 3.55 sure grip rear end, power steering, power disc brakes, Light group, console, outside right hand & left hand chrome mirror's, Ralley wheels with F-70 X 14 raised white letter tires, Heavy duty battery, tinted glass, Air conditioning, vinyl top, and factory undercoating. I have added the rear wing, tuff wheel, AM/FM radio, and hood pins. It only took 1 1/2 to complete but I worked on it day and night in a 2 car garage. All work and paint were done in a 2 car garage. I have to thank my friend for helping me and not charging me a arm and a leg for the work he did. This car would of not been saved by most as it has had many body parts replaced being from Saint Louis, Mo. all it's life it had much rust needing to be cut out. I replaced both quarters, trunk floor, lower quarter extensions, outer wheel house's, all 4 floor pans, front inner fenders, rear panel below the tail lights, rear panel below the back glass, and I we had to section part of a firewall on due to rust through. This Challenger had just been repainted before I bought it and 3 years later this is what I had to do to restore the Challenger back to a original condition. This car is a dream to drive know and I would find it very hard to ever part with it after going through all this work. I hope all the pictures come up so you can all enjoy them.
Jeff

Very nice turnout!!!!  I can't believe you used the complete Goodmark quarter panel skins and it turned out looking great back there!  I had mine welded on below the body line due to way too many flaws on the upper section of the panels. (not to mention the gas cap opening wasn't true.)  Anways, awesome job in such a short amount of time!
