    I have a 70 chall conv.  the new floors, trunk floor and unibody that was replaced a while ago.  Of course they have much "surface" rust. I will be doing most of the resto myself,  What would be the best or easiest way to derust and finish off the underside, and interior floors,  get it sand blasted?  chemically striped?  The outer body is in very good shape.  I've seen a tilting frame that is attached to the drums and rotors that makes it possible to tilt the car on it's side.

    I have used pool acid diluted by water (about 50/50) to get off surface rust. Basicly, I run the acid over the panel in a small area and then wet sand the panel to get the acid off. Do as much as you can, let's say the driver's side floor for example, dry it off and then shoot with a good primer. Next do the passenger side ect

    I saved a roof this way and that car turned pretty nice but this is not fun and you can't breathe this stuff,
    of course do it outside

    Thanks,  is that the stuff I would get in a pool store?  Is there a commercial name?

    You folks might remember that I am parting out a '65 Barracuda and I just did the acid "treatment"
    on the fenders because some Ya-Hoo sanded off all the paint and left it that way for 10 years.

    Anyway, Here are some pics. I just sand off the excess rust with some 120 grit wetdry sandpaper and hit the pool acid all over the metal with a rag
    Also, I kept a fan on right next to it so the fumes blow away
    Then hit the thing with wet sandpaper  and paint with primer real quick                                               took about an hour or so for each fender
    some pits are left but then you just hit those up with a Dual action sander or grinder (with sandpaper attachment)

    Right!! It would have took longer if there was more paint on the fenders to start with. Also, these fenders were nasty with surface rust so I used the acid straight because diluting it was killing the effectiveness
