the best I have seen is the magazine build if a 400 hp 318 & that would depend on the  dyno used a specific test conditions

I built a roller 318 that could run mid 11's in a 74 duster. Could have been faster, but I had a no traction problem.
Possibilities are endless, I would say, its just a money thing.

i dont know exactly how much power you can build with a 318, but i think i just built a screamer.  i plan on dropping it inot my 73 chally and all i wanted was a good street motor.  90% street at most 10% strip.   i dealt with a very highly recomended machine shop here in balt.  the list is as follows.  bored .030 over, crank turned .010, new oversized pistons, original heavy duty 318 con rods, Comp cam 270 cam (the part number eludes me right now), a set of the eddy performer rpm aluminum heads, eddy performer manifold, comp cams pushrods, comp aluminum hydralic roller rockers for a small block, hedmann headers, new mopar perf aluminum 6 blade water pump, carter street fuel pump, new electronic conversion kit from mopar perf, ARP engine bolt kit, new mopar perf oil pan, a cloyes dbl roller timing chain, a whole new rebuild kit from summit, im adding a 1/2" spacer for the carb and a mighty demon 650 cfm sitting on top.  i hope this engine is awesome when im done.

how much power you want is directly proportional to how deep your pockets are. I'm sure some crazy guy somewhere tossed a blower on one once. I've seen a slant 6 push a early 60s lancer into the 11's. Definately not normal. haha

nah im not running castrol oil.  just breaking the motor in with it.  lots of people have warned me about castrol.  thanks for the compliments on the engine.  im hoping to be able to spin some tires, eat a few chevys and fords and just generally have a good time with this car.  im a big fan of the small block mopars, i think they are capable of lots of horsepower.

Chevy's pass pretty easy, its the fords that clog up the exhaust valves!
