Suggestions? 70 Challenger...

I have a 70' Challenger stock was a 318/auto. Its engineless at the moment but I have options the joy of colecting cars and having a salvage yard a few years ago.
 I'm wanting to build it into a corner carver. Something like a T/A but better. Kinda rules out the big block. I have a 360 that has 36,000 actual miles on it, 76 model from a Dodge 1 ton van/camper I'm going to use. Unless someone can demonstate that a 440 will not kill handling.
 Just as a side note I have 70 Chrysler Imperial with 440 in it for a donor engine too.
 
Suggestions? Best way to wake up the 360? 340 HP Cam or go with Edlebrock cam? I have an Offenhauser Dual plane intake for the original 318.

One last note I've been out of the Dodge biz since I was in High School, had a 70 Dart that got a 383 Magnum transfusion that was a really FUN car.

Although I'm a hardcore TorqueFlite-727 straight-line fan, if your after corning in my opinion a 4-Speed would be the way to go.

360 + 4-Speed = Great Corning car (If that's possible in these E-Bodies)

the 360 will work well , it can make lots of power with a nice flat power band , I built one with a mild combo & it makes similar power to a big block , we used the Mopar 484 hyd cam  , there are other good choices as well for cams , we also used the later 308 truck heads , they seem to make very good power & are relatively easy to get

Interesting, I have a T-5 from an 83 Mustang I rolled several years ago. Wonder if theres a bell housing that would work. I could drop gears to 3.2x or 3.56 and keep drivability.

Just for tossing around I deas I thought of going with a 4 wheel independent suspension setup, maybe a complete rear from a Vette or a late model stang or T-Bird. Its a long term project.

The T-5 is only good to 250hp.  The better choice would be the Tremec setup from Keisler, much stronger (what I'm hoping to do someday).  The thunderbird irs is junk.  Makes for a nice ride, but there is a reason they never came with a manual trans.  The C4 irs is decent, the C5 is better.  Look back at some issues of Mopar Action at their Green Brick ('69 Valiant) car.  It uses a lot police and taxi car parts and kicks butt.

Psycho, What Mopar cam number is that 484? Does that refer to lift I assume?
How do you identify the 308 truck heads? Could they be stock on a 76 Van/Camper engine?
I was thinking of a milling the stock heads to get compression increase, and Stainless valves and 3 angle cut. I think I read somewhere that 2.02 and 1.60 is the largest sb valves used.

P5007696 is the part # for the Mopar 484 cam
 the 308 heads are on the 87-92 premagnum 360 engines , the casting # is on the bottom & is 7 digits ending with #308
 you can deck the block square to the crank which needs to be done anyway & mill the deck to get the compression up & you will either need to mill the intake surface of the heads or the intake to get the intake to fit
 2.02 /1.65 are the biggest valves & will work in 308 heads , I would port the heads as well but porting is ambiguous everyone does things a bit different , I`m getting awesome gains with my 308 ported heads
