I am unsure if they varied between a Rallye car or a non-Rallye car (as did the rear taillight panel colors), but mine was silver and is a non-Rallye option car.  However, I have seen several cars online that appeared to have had the A57 Rallye Package and were painted black just like the taillight panel.  I'd wait until someone else could verify this for you before you make a decision on what to use. ;)

I think that if it didn't have the A57 Rallye option it was the satin silver you mentioned.  Rallye optioned cars, like SC73 mentioned had the flat black grill.  Do you have the A57 on the fender tag somewhere?
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
