New owner here with a 1974 Challenger 360 four-barrel
« on: October 29, 2005 - 06:48:56 PM »
This is my first post here, I would just like to introduce myself and how i came to own this car

My hobbies mostly reside on a silicon-based chipset with tiny electrical pulses running through it, such as programming, and 3-d modelling. However, i have always held a love for Muscle cars, and especially the Challenger and the 'Cuda.

On a complete whim, we stopped in at Fast Lane classic cars in St. Charles, MO. Sitting at the front door was A fire-cracker-orange, 1974 dodge challenger 360 four-barrel

Beautiful condition, and a nice price at 22k. (keep in mind these are fully restored cars)

Now, i may have paed too much, but i've been searching papers, shworooms, and all sorts of outlets around here for challengers and cudas, but the only ones that show up are usually 30k+ I figured that if i was going to get a challenger, this was it.

So, we have it on 1k deposit, and before they sell it to us they are going to strip it down and check everything to make sure its all healthy and well, and then we will trade in my '04 Mazda RX-8, at almost no out-of-pocket expense.

Once we have gotten it, i will take pictures and post them, here are some details

Factory air
After Market cd player/stereo (good one too)
power steering/brakes
i don't know the official color name, but its orange!
318 motor taken out, replaced with 360 four barrel
automatic
spoiler on deck-lid

I hope to become a good member of this community.

cheers!

Not to sound suspicious, or anything, but how is a 15 year old able to own a brand new RX-8?

If it really matters to you that much, IT was one of these situations

"Hey, I like that car!"
*buy's RX-8*
"Eh, not what i thought it would be, here you go, son, take it."

Not Excactly that casually, but you get the general idea...

nosey, nosey, nosey...

I wouldn't call it being nosey, so much as trying to find out if you are one of those 12 year olds that every car site gets, who claims to have bought a nice car.  We've gotten a few of them before, and every time, red flags were raised in my mind.  In fact, in the Classic Thread section, you'll find a thread that has me calling a kid out about what he "owns".

There are only 2 ways a 15 year old can have a brand new car.

1:  A relative dies, and leaves you alot of money.
2:  Mommy and Daddy buy it for you.  In which case, it's not really yours.

Usually in the case of #1, you can't touch the money untill age 18.  And, very few parents will buy a kid a brand new performance car.

You'll forgive me, but, I don't trust easily.  Especially since this wouldn't be the first time someone claimed to own something they don't, and it won't be the last.  Hell, I even did it, once, which is how I'm usually able to tell these things.
