1970 AAR Cuda?
« on: October 30, 2005 - 05:41:14 PM »
I was wondering if they made just plain Cudas with a 340 4 barrel or if 340 Cudas in 1970 were AARs because I found one for sale and I wanted to know if this is a AAR?

A 1970 340 Cuda would have BS23H0B or BS23H0E as the VIN prefix.

If it is an AAR it will be BS23J0B.

One exception is known, but it is the AAR pilot car, it carries both H0B and J0B VIN prefixs depending on where you look.

You can visit www.transamcuda.com and www.aarta.com for lots of great AAR information too. :-)

Best of luck with it!

Judging from that photo, if they were added it was a l-o-o-o-n-g time ago. Worth looking into for sure!

I also noticed theres like a piece on the back quarter where a antenna should be. Was it only AARs had the antenna on the back end like the T/As?

Again, best off luck with it, keep us posted.

Challenger_440, before you stated the antenna mast on the back, I would have said it was probably just a '72-'74 'Cuda that someone put the AAR stripes on. (Due to the front bumper's guards and you can't really see the shape of the side markers.)  Keep us updated with what you find out about this car and post some pics when you go there.

The good news is the paint on the jams and around the stripe seem original but I can't see what that is for a side marker.

It looks like it could be a '72 and up marker but it's too high  on the quarter panel to be right. I tried to clean up the pic but I don't think it helps

The VIN would tell of course but that antenna hole would be a good clue if you can't see the VIN
and the tail lights style would nail down the year
