Another A-body guy, 408 4spd ^_^
« on: November 06, 2005 - 07:28:27 PM »
Yup, that’s right. Too young to afford an E-body but just old enough to afford to an A-body build (barely!). Anyways, I’m here to get more opinions on my build. I am a member of MoparChat but would like to get more views and opinions.

I was referenced by dodgetkboy78, the guy with the aviator that well reflects his personality.

Anyways here’s my info:

Short block:
Mopar Perf. 4.00 crank
Eagle Rods
Probe.030 over pistons
JE piston rings
Durabond bearings
***Internal balanced, no Mallory***
Milodon Oil pan and windage tray
McCloud SFI flywheel and generic internal balancer

Rest:
Edelbrock heads – maybe ARP stud system or just reg heat bolts depending on $$$.
Felpro head gasket
ARP bolts
Timing chain - ??? RollMaster maybe?
Rockers -???
Lifters - ???
Cam - ???
Stock chain cover
Stock water pump (until gain enough money to replace, recommendations?)
Stock fuel pump (until gain enough money to replace, recommendations?)
Performer RPM intake
Edelbrock 600cfm carb (until gain enough money for other carb, recommendations?)

Car:

Old beat-up Duster
Old worn 4spd
Old worn 83/4 3.23 SG

And here are some pictures of my block:

Welcome dst, that block looks pretty nice to me, hard to see how well it was done with pictures but from all appearance it looks good. Best of luck with your project.

Welcome DST, I'm also memberover at MoparChat.  I've never seen you there........but then again I hardly go over there after finding this forum. Although moparchat is a great forum, this place has a much better sense of a community and I'm sure you will discover this after being here a little while. Anyhow, you shortblock looks amazing and I can't wait to see it in that "Old beat-up duster"

There's not a damn thing with A bodies!

Welcome, and, of course, we will need pics.

"A" bodies are cool.  They are getting harder to find than "E" bodies. And don't forget--The "A" bodies lineage gave us those "E" bodies. Both are great, it's a matter of choice and I like em all!!...........Oldschool

Welcome to the site, DST.  That engine looks like it'll be a solid foundation for your build up.  Best of luck with it!

Welcome!Your engine combo looks pretty stout but I would get at least a better mechanical fuel pump as you don`t want to starve your engine for fuel and risk burning a piston or something.Holley and Carter both make good mechanical units that are fairly cheap $$.

Thanks for the replies; I’m surprised to get so many replies. ^_^

As for pictures of my car, for the time being just look at my aviator. That’s my Duster in the background. I’ll post some sometime and will probably make a signature banner with my Duster in it.

@Killer_Mopar: You may not have seen me but I know I’ve seen that aviator.

@dodgetkboy78: Where is your stressed out aviator from MC?

@torredcuda: I was thinking of staying under 4000 RPM, which I’m thinking should not damage anything with my stock pump, right??? I was looking at Holley but will probably make a thread asking for recommendations later.
I think I’ll start with a ‘Which cam should I go with’ thread.

Thanks for your comments:

It is at Moparchat, because that place is perplexing! They just like to fight, and be rude there.
Here and Hamcar, I am the "post hole digger", It fits me better.
