Door VIN Sticker / Door Skin / Transfer
« on: December 10, 2002 - 10:13:23 PM »
OK, just got my doors, car and trunklid back from being sandblasted.  Despite being told not to blast the outside of the door and trunklid, I have them back and now are now unfortunately warped.  Too bad, great 70 trunklid... but the blaster is going to make it right anyway.

Anyway, since door skins don't seem to be available, is there a good way to transfer the door sticker from one door to another with a 90+% change of not ruining it?

Maybe it's easy enough to transfer the skin (any comments) or cut the metal around the sticker and do it that way.  Using a blade kind of scares me but it may come to it...

Has anyone doe this with any success?

I would change the skin as the first option or have the decal reproduced , the original will be distroyed tryng to lift it , they are made to do that  ;)

Are skins available and I haven't found them yet?  I talked with the body shop today and they said transfering a skin from one door to another is "challenging".  I read that to mean time and money so if skins are available, I'd like to know where...

I didn't realize that these were actually being reproduced (http://www.gvgovier.com/decals.htm) and thought I'd have to get it done myself.  This seems like a reasonably priced alternative.
