    I'm definitely onboard with OLDSCHool. Esp. on the shrouding effect.

    I just might have to bore the 360 a little more  ( + .060") , so I can say " She's real mean , my 414."

    I think its a great idea to try to get all the cubes you can get out of a small block so you dont have to get the added weight of a BB. If I could stroke a sb to 440cuin, i would do it. My chally definitely doesnt need anymore weight up front, (maybe in the back)

    That's great Plum!  Ever thought about a career in songwriting?  lol  The bad thing is this, I now have your "414" stuck in my head and will replaying it over and over today. I hate it when that happens.

    I just paid the shop $500 to mill the new piston bosses, resize the big end on the new Eagle rods, check the rod bearing clearances, rebalance and reassemble the rods on the pistons.  I went home and assembled the short block with no problems.  I then measured how much the pistons were protruding from the deck.  I only got one bank done but three were 0.010" proud and one was 0.016".  So much for the zero deck idea.  I'll finish the other bank tomorrow night and then phone the machine shop and ask about milling the high pistons (or not), balance issues ,etc.  I'm going to have to buy Cometic MLS gaskets anyway to get the 0.051" thickness.  What a mess.
