Pics of the 440 build
« on: November 19, 2005 - 08:49:32 PM »
Hey everybody, finally starting the build for my buddy's 440 swap to wake up his 69 Coronet. Here are a couple of pics: the first is us installing the cam, the second is us torqueing (sp?) the main bearing caps. More pics to come as we progress. Question though, can any of you save us some leg work & tell us the correct motor mount to use. According to several books I have, I do NOT need to change the K-member on a 318-440 swap, but can any of you tell me what motor mounts we need to buy, or a place to get them? That's one area I'm a bit fuzzy at, so I thought I'd see what you guys know already.

You are correct about the K-frame, it doesn't need to be changed.  You should be able to get NOS motor mounts reasonably priced at a Mopar dealer. Just tell em what you need. It might take em a day or so to get them, but they should arrive in plenty of time for you.....................Oldschool

I remember doing that!  Is that blood on the journals and the torque wrench?

The journal is assembly lube. The torque wrench however, ya, that's blood.

You can get the exact/perfect fit mounts and brackets for any set up (such as your 318 to 440) from Schmacher out of Wa. Their add can be found among other place in any issue of MCG. I live in Ohio and it cost me a whopping $12.00 for shipping.

All you need is the correct biscuit style engine brackets off any big block about 1965- to 1972. The new rubber mounts are still available from mopar, put the 2 together and your on your way. Did the engine not come with mounts on it?
I have a few sets in the garage if you need a picture or something.
