Green Style Bearings

I had Green style bearings installed on my 8 3/4 axles. Now the rotor is not properly centered over the disc brake rotors (I am using a set of stainless steel discs). That is, the axle is too far into the axle housing. I believe the bearings were pressed onto the axles too far. The question is, how far is the bearing/retainer supposed to be pressed on? I am using a set from year one with thesnap ring retainer.

 The brg is press on up to a shoulder on the axle so it is on correctly , the problem is that the Green Brg doesn`t position the axle exactly the same , it also causes problems with the center bolck in the diff, the green brg pulls the axle into the diff too far
 The easiest way to fix it is ti space the caliper over a bit if possible , if this doesn`t work the old tapered stlye brg is still available But the threaded retainer plate & the retainer ring are very difficult or impossible to get

So what do you do if the green bearing pulls the axle in to far?....I have trouble with the green bearing also, I bought mosier axles and green gearings also the auburn posi and have trouble withe the drivers side, seems like the axle is about an 1/8 to long....Mabey just cut the axle back some?

Thanks for the responses. This was a help. If my understanding from this is correct, my problem is not with the machine shop that pressed my bearing on - but with the design of the bearing itself. When the machine shop pressd the bearing on, then probably just pushed it till it would not go on any further. So, that seems to be the correct installation procedure. Now, if I were to continue to use the bearingsas installed, I would have to both trim the axle length and figure out some way of re-centering the calliper.

Fortunatly for me I kept the original adjuster rings because I will try and find a new set of OEM bearings and have them re-installed. It is a shame that all the companies that sell these Green-Style bearings (like year-one) do not mention the problems associated with using them.

that is what I would do , find the original style tapered brgs , possibly th eretainer rings can be used from a set of green brgs

Hi, I just bought a pair of taper roller bearings for my 8 3/4 from Carquest. They come
with the retainer collar or ring. It was forty something $ each side for the set. I can give
you their part number later today when I get home.  Jeff
