weird game , I only caught the last 15 min or so , it was a cliff hanger , Ed was behind got in the lead in the last 2 mins , then with 56 seconds to go Montreal tied the game up & forced OT , Ed won by a field goal
 I`m glad they won too

Great news...I've been too busy on the Ottawa Senators bandwagon to keep up with the disaster that is the Renegades and its (lack of) contribution to CFL

Dude that's too funny! Becoming popular? The Grey cup has been happening in Canada since 1909!

Here is a little history lesson for you. The tradition and history behind what the trophy and Championship game are called means alot to those that know the story. Believe it or not there are some pretty awesome sports being played outside the USA and there are plenty of CFL fans south of the Canadian border. Check it out next season, you might get hooked! :dogpile:

Oh yeah ... THE ESKIMO'S RULE  :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: Ricky Rae sure had his game of the year! I sure hope we don't trade Jason Maas to Hamilton though. :banghead:

It seems apt that the enduring icon of the CFL and Canadian football would be called the Grey Cup — not a name that would fit the flashier league to the south. The Grey Cup's 95-year history has been colourful enough, never travelling a bland or predictable path.

The Grey Cup is the trophy awarded each year to the champion of the Canadian Football League. Donated by the then Governor General of Canada, Earl Grey, in 1909.

For the first 45 years, football teams from various leagues in Canada could bid to compete for the championship and the trophy. In the early years, the winners were teams representing universities or local athletic associations. Since 1954, however, only teams that are members of the Canadian Football League have been allowed compete for "Earl Grey's mug". Universities now compete for their own football championship -- the Vanier Cup, named after another former Governor General of Canada, General Georges P. Vanier.

In the modern era, the game normally pits a western champion against an eastern champion (there have been exceptions). Teams in the two geographic divisions of the league compete to declare a champion for the division, and it's these two teams that compete each year for the Cup.

I was able to go to the game. The first 45 minutes was ho hum. Then both teams seem to realize that they better get going or they would end up on the losing end. There was some interesting entertainment in the area we where we were sitting as well. Five ladies were escorted from the stands for lude conduct. All in all it was a great game and the best team won.
