Why Challengers
« on: December 03, 2005 - 03:15:49 PM »
This was just something that I was wondering about.  How come challengers seem to be at the front of the line for getting repro sheet metal for mopars.  You can get full quarters, an RT hood, and fenders soon.  It is definately about time, but I wonder why it didnt come out for the cuda first sinse they seem to command a higher price.  Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Because they're better.  :lol2: Seriously, I have no idea. You'd think if they made socks, they'd make shoes.  :dunno:

I thought about that and I'm convinced that the manufacturers own Cudas and don't want to bring the prices down by making parts cheaper. I dont see any other logical reason, because the challenger body parts appear to be harder to make...they have more character lines and bends. As a Challenger owner....Im not going to complain.

I never gave it much thought untill now. (Since I am not in the market for any sheet metal) However I did read an article a few months back from Rob Wolf ( editor for Mopar Collectors Guide )about how Cudas were bringing higher prices than Challengers.
He went on to say that sooner or later the Cudas will get all bought up or the prices will get so high most people won't be able to afford them. So guess what they will jump on Challengers. He personally said he would buy up ever affordable Challenger now because they will have there day in the limelight.Maybe that is what the people doing the repros are thinking to so they are getting ready for it early.
Just a thought.

I figure its because there were twice as many challengers produced as cudas.  Makes sense that there would be more demand for challenger sheet metal.

I think they are practicing with the Chally parts so they get the bugs worked out before moving onto the Cudas. lol ..Only kidding folks..

I am anxiously awaiting the factory rear quarters for my 71 cuda to emerge.  Goodmark speculates that it will be around June of 2006.  Does anyone have any pros or cons with the current factory style Challenger rear quarters that have used them?  I would love to know what to expect.

Check the numbers....they made twice as many challengers as Cudas. So they should sell twice as many parts. (I am using the challenger/cuda book by Dave Newhardht as reference.)

I kind of tend to agree that they built so many more Challengers than Barracuda models that it only makes since to make the parts for the model that should have the biggest demand for them. I also think that very soon the Challenger models will start to become in big demand and will bring a higher price than they currently do as their are only so many Barracuda cars to sell and many owners won't sell them for any price. This is just my 2 cents.
