frame rail repair pics.
« on: December 05, 2005 - 04:02:26 PM »
I installed the rear Patches on my 73 E body today. I need to get it back movable so I did a little to it.  I cut out the rear section with a cutoff wheel and drilled out the spot welds with a rotobroach. I was surprised how many spot welds didnt even touch the frame rail.  Next the new rail slides into the old rail. Its pretty solid from there foward. Even though its joggeled down I still had to slit the new piece where its joggeled to get it to slide into the old rail.  It will look good when welded in and the welds grinded down.  The floors and most of the trunk are good.  It was fun to get to work on my stuff for a change.  Thats the left cut off and the new rt in the pic. I didnt take a pic till I had already tacked the left in  :)

sheet metal work looks nice - did you have an aviation sheet metal background? I thought the work "joggle" was an aircraft sheet metal exclusive term  :naughty:
