Cuda rear wheel size with B body dana
« on: November 23, 2005 - 05:02:18 PM »
My new cuda has a B body Dana 60. I'm thinkin of going with a weld wheel...what size offset with a 8 inch wheel and 275-60-15 tires should i run?

Anybody else here run this setup?

I'm sure a more knowledgeable person will come along shortly... but from what I know is the B-body rear is shorter than the E-body. So what wheels are on there now, and what offset do they have? That might give us a start. It looks like you can definitely go in further. Sorry I can't help more.

you will have to measure , I know the B body diff is shroter so the offset will be less , for example the stock wheels use a center offset so an 8 " wheel will have a 4" backset , if the diff is 1" shorter on each side you would then need an 8" wheel with a 3" backset

I have the B body rear in my Cuda and run 8 inch wide Weld Rodlites with 3.5 inch offset and 275-60/15 BFG T/A radials. It's a nice fit and nothing rubs.

Just an FYI for everyone...the stock Mopar repo rallyes (15 X 7) with standard 4.25 inch backspace do not work with this setup and 275-60-15 tires. It's close, but no cigar. I'm either going with custom backspace 3.75 inch 15 X 7 rallyes, or the next size down tire (255-60-15) with the standard 15 x 7 4.25 inch backspace rallyes. I'm going to price both options out and make my decision from there.

Back in the day, the custom wheel manufacturers in Ga would be able to do the math for you. Tell them what you have got, then tell them what you want to do, and they will tell you want needs to happen to make it work. Have you talked to the Weld wheel guys?.............Oldschool

I put a set of 15 X 6 1/2 rallyes on and laid it all out b4 i bought the 15 x 7's. I figured i had about 1/4 of play. turns out, the rear is ever so slightly offset in the car, about 1/4 inch. So on one side (drivers) i have my 1/4-3/8 room between the leaf spring and the tire, but on the other side i have about a fgew thousandth's    LOL.  Just a little too close for comfort for me.....if i get custom made rallyes with the less backspacing, it will move the tire out 1/2 inch...which will be plenty. the smaller 255's (about 3/4 inch narrower) will also work...but i like the big footprint of the 275's.

My white car has the B-body 8 3/4 with 10" wide centerlines, 5" Backspacing on 295/50s but I am not sure if the Dana is the same track width as the 8 3/4.

I checked the chassis book but it doesn't list the width of the Dana.

I have some Dana 60 rearends but none are the stock width

I just ordered a set of 15 x 7 1/2 rallyes with 3 5/8 backspace off of Stockton wheel. getting them powdercoated too. Cost $395 for the pair to my door. That will give me the needed clearance all around and be able to run the 275's. The tires will sit in some from the standard wheels, so they will tuck nicely in the wheel well.
