    OK, I did a search for this topic and I found it

    but with the server issues this summer the pics are gone.  Also, being old and kind of dumb, I couldn't figure out if the question was really answered concerning the actual black plastic console differences.  I already have a repro 4 speed top plate and an automatic shell so my question is, What trimming do I need to do to the underside of the console to make it work on my 4 speed?  It appeared that the suggestion was that trimming was needed on the underside as well as the side of the shell.  When I place the console over my shifter, the only interference appears to be a corner on the underside near the drivers side of the forward edge of the shifter.  (get that?)  So does anybody have clear pics of a REAL 4 speed console and some info for converting?

    I do not have the measurements but you are right the console needs to be cut where it interferes with the shift boot on the lower lip

    When you place your 4 speed top plate on the automatic shell you will see the difference.

    Romi, Actually the side of the console is different on the drivers side right next to the shifter. It is cut out next to where the shifter boot is. Also like mentioned above the top plate is different as it is not square where the shifter comes through.  This is the best pic I have, hopefully it will help if not I can try and get you a better one.

    The automatics had an oblong cut out along the side.  The four speeds had a shorter oblong cutout on top of the one the automatics had.  I think you can cut your automatic console out like a 4 speed.  I am going to do this to mine when I get to that point.  Last year there was a guy on Ebay selling templates made from a four speed console to modify your automatic one.  I don't remember his name and I don't know if he is still selling them but it might be worth a look!  Also, where did you get your repo four speed top?

    That's Perfect Mopar73340! That's exactly what I was looking for.  I'll have to study it but on first look I think I can tell what I have to do. Thanks for posting and keep watch cause when I go to cut it I may have to come back to ask you to look at it again for me. As I said "THANKS"

    The top looks very good. The wood grain "label" could be a bit better but it will do for now.  There's a very small bit of interference at two spots, one near the shifter and one at the very back end of the console.  Correcting ONE of those spots should take care of the fit issue. I would say it's a minor issue.  Overall it looks good. I haven't looked close at an OEM top plate so I can't make that comparison.
