I went to WalMart the other day.....
« on: December 17, 2005 - 11:51:54 PM »
...to buy some coughdrops (damn bronchitis), and thought I would check the toy isle, to see if they have any Mopar diecasts or models. Having already found a new Deora plastic model kit, I decide to look in the next isle over. As I turn the corner, I spy something. I pause, and look harder. It's big. And blue. And red. With some white in between. And a number that looks suspiciously like 43....! I take off running! I hurdle over 3 small kids drooling over some GI Joe's, and throw an old grandma out of my way! I'm running top speed now, but, what do I see? SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING AFTER IT!!!! I scream out a war cry, fly through the air, and crash into the offender, knocking him back several feet. Dizzily, I get to my feet, and claim my prize: A 1/18 scale Muscle Machines 68 Dart, from the NASCAR series, with Richard Petty's colors on it. I sprint to the checkout with my spoils: The afformentioned Dart, the Deora model, and a giant bag of cough drops.

Okay, okay, that didn't happen, but I did find the Dart, and the Deora model.

Nice find, I didn't know they made a Dart. I got the black Cuda, looks like I'll have to look for a Dart now.

Burpin bought a 68 Cuda that is huge. This is a radio controlled car much bigger than a normal r/c car. The box says 68 Cuda on it but the reason why Burpin got it was because it looks just like a 71 Cuda.

I was hoping for Ghost Drops too, but I bet it looked like this:

Nice finds Ghost!  I bought the Deora too!  That Dart looks cool with the Petty graphics.

What color are you going to do the Deora?  While I was in Wal Mart, I checked out the Mopar edition from Hot Rod and there's a picture of the actual Deora.  It's like a burnt candy orange metallic laquer or something.  Really cool looking.  I went to a hobby shop that had an extensive paint section but no orange metallic.  I was thinking that a bright gold base coat then Tamiya has a clear orange that over the gold may look good.

Whaddaya think?

For you guys who bought the WCC Cuda, I was told that it doesn't do a real burn out and that it has "nubbies" that lift the rear wheels so they can spin and smoke like liquid from a Lionel train set up is used?  Is that right?

How fast is this car?  I was told about 10mph.  Is that right?

I don't know if I'm even gonna paint it, yet.  It'll be a while before I get to it, got alot of other models ahead in line.
