    To keep it simple, the headers allow the engine to breathe easier. There is horsepower to be gained. Headers are more of a pain to put on, so it depends on your preference as to what you want to do with your car. I can go deeper into detail if you'd like.

    headers can be good or bad. on street cars i say use manifolds. in the case of my 74 Charger with a 440, they boiled the power steering fluid out of the sector, baked the starter, and also made it so you had to pretty much remove the entire engine to replace said starter. now i have HP manifolds and none of those problems.

    Also, what are your intentions with the car? If it's more street driving / road cruising you'll be fine with HP Manifolds. I have them on my car and they are good enough for me. Headers aren't bad but, the problem is they are a tight squeeze as mentioned and the motor does have to be lifted out to basically change out the starter as well. Anyways, good luck with your decision.

    I find info like the above telling me what my exhaust manifold numbers should be, run out to the garage and find out they are correct. :bananasmi

    That is odd. I was told that the drivers side E-body manifold was different from the B-body. The flange was twisted a bit more for clearance.

    Also early 383 (440?) drivers side manifold changed mid year to use a different heat riser.
