This is a true story and would be ideal for a cars-in-barns article. About 2 summers ago me and my brother went on a sunday cruise back home on Prince Edward Island (Eastern Canada) and were looking at little cottages down some back road. One cottage had a little barn in the back full of junk. At last minute my brother spotted the tail lights of what he thought to be a Charger. Us growing up brainwashed mopar, we circled around and pulled in. We were poking around when the owner came out. The car ended up being an all original 1969 Hemi Charger R/T. This car was covered in junk and never been moved since 1986. The owner told us about the car, he ordered new with pretty much every option, all power windows, A/C etc, even more interesting was the fact that he ordered the car with the Charger 500 style wheels. I must say when he opened the hood and I seeen the Hemi sitting there covered in dirt, it was like getting hit with a blast of cold water in the shower, couldn't beleive what I was seeing. Needless to say he said he was saving the car for his son, but his son didn't want it, wanted an Austin Mini instead!! So I offered him a trade for my brand new Subaru WRX, and he told me this car was being saved for Jay Leno's collection someday..lol. I followed up on the car just recently (Now that i'm done University and finally have money saved for a muscle car), and he sold it for 50K US, the car went to the United states somewhere. Thats only one of a few jems I found growing up that I was not in any position to buy, I only wish I can find something like that now.
If only I had my camera that day!!
