18" Charger wheels on a Cuda
« on: December 26, 2005 - 07:28:58 AM »
I have been seeing Chargers and Magnums everywhere on the street this holiday season. The wheels kind've grow on you. They are 18" x 7.5" aluminum wheels with a compatible 5-4.5 pattern. Not sure on back spacing. has anyone tried these for a fit on their E-body?

becarefull, the bolt pattern is close but not exact. The LX platform uses a 112 metric pattern as compared to the 4.5" or 115 equal metric pattern. The hole can be modifyed to work. But your best to buy the right rim pattern wheel, they are available or buy pattern adapter plates.
These rims have a very deep backspace and will work with the right adapter. Don't use spacers. Adapters can be found here. www.motorsport-tech.com and they can set you up with the right lug pattern.    vin

Cool - thanks for that info. I wasnt sure if the metric equivalent was negligible difference or what. There are a few Ebay dealers that are selling them as 5-4.5" pattern. I questioned that when I saw it but assumed that the difference was only marginal. I photoshopped the wheels on my car and really like the look although the scale is not going to be correct. This is back-burner stuff and I know there is a lot more to consider besides looks. Am going to get more info.

I might get in trouble for this but here it goes...I too have been thinking of puttin bigger and newer rims on my Cuda. (17 inch) I have found that the new Mustang rims are 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I personally like the Cobra R rims. Has anyone had these on their E body?? I am looking for a rim that will fit under my mini tubbed Cuda. My current rims are 15x10 and the tires rub on hard turns. My only concern is the lower profile tires...will that give me enuff room so the tires do not rub...I dont know. :bricks1:

I htink if you measure either rim you will find the offest is too far to the inside so the tire would tuck too far under the car
