How to unload torsion bars
« on: December 30, 2005 - 05:59:27 PM »
I am getting ready to replace all ball joints etc on my 70 Challenger. Before I end up breaking something, like my arm, can someone tell me how to unload the torsion bars? How far do the torsion bars rotate before they are fully unloaded? 1/4 turn? Thanks.

undo the adjuster bolts in the lower control arms , it will become unloaded before ther bolt is completely undone & the adjuster will be loose in the LCA , they fully load in less than 1/8 of a turn
T bars are far safer then coils , they will not pop out & break your arm as they are contained in the hex anchors at both ends , they are difficult to remove even when unloaded , no way you will get them out loaded
