Sukhoi, you can just remove the vinyl from the roof, grind off the tabs that go around the rear of the vinyl (where the trim attaches to the car) and get that area repainted your body color.  I believe that's all you were talking about, right?  The roof will be the same whether it's a vinyl car or non-vinyl car.

My advice Sukhoi is to leave it alone unless you have some serious cancer growing underneath. The reason why I say this is because later year E bodies used a strange bondo material where the roof meets the quarter. Earlier E bodies used lead regardless whether they were a vinyl top or painted. Unless you know how to do good body work, I would leave the top on.

It was a piece of cake on the Coronet...

I just pulled the vinyl top off and scraped the area with laquer thinner to remove the adhesive.

I had to fill two holes on the A pillars that the vinyl trim piece attached.

I don't know about the e-bodies though...not sure how the roof is seamed on... Everything was leaded really nicely on the 66

:iagree:   Both cars look great!   Sukhoi--yours looks fine as is.  If you undo the vinyl. how much trouble to re-do it if you are not happy?   :cooldancing:  ..................Oldschool

I agree... I like the vinyl on your challenger. .. The idea seems like a lot of work for such a nice car. In my case, the car was a wreck to begin with.
