how hard would it be to find a manual tranny for a 72 340 cuda? does it make any difference on these cars between atx and mtx trannys? thanks

Well swapping from an auto can be done but you need all the parts like linkages, z bar and such. The tranny crossmember should be the same.  You also need to be sure your crank is drilled for the pilot bushing. That year e body used a 23 spline tranny.  You should be able to salvage one from any e or b body.  A bodies were shorter.  Try darklair.com this guy swapped a 727 to a manual in great detail in a charger I believe.

 I have some trannies available ,you need to cut the floor for shifter clearance & weld in a floor hump & locate all the linkage a pedals ,Brewers carries a lot of the parts  ;)
