Were Shaker hoods only an option on Hemi cars?

I believe that cuda's all came with shaker hoods but not sure about the challenger.

Shaker hood was standard on Hemi cars and optional on Challenger Hemi.

option on 340's up. I think the hemi challengers were supposed to have shaker standard but had a production problem. I'm sure you'll get more info on this.

They ran our out shaker hoods for the Challenger and used T/A hoods near the end of production

I was thinking the original shakers for challenger didnt meet saftey specs, crumple zones or something and didnt get the redesign ready for regular production.

The shakers were available on 340, 383 4-barrel, 440, 440-6 and Hemi cars.

They were not available for a while do to saftey concerns, in a front end collision the hoods were going back through the windshieds and killing the drivers.

They were available again ( with crumple zones built in ) before the T/A hoods were introduced, so the whole "shakers were replaced with T/A hoods" thing is a myth.

T/A hoods were available on non-T/A Challengers as an option on 1970 and 1971 340, 383 - four barrel, 440, 440-6 and Hemi cars after the hoods came available for the T/As.

Shakers  were part of the Hemi package on CUDAs only , so all hemi Cudas had them unless other wise optioned , Challs were stad with the ralley hood & had optional shakers which is why there are less Shaker Challs than Cudas
