Yeah but, either way you look at I'm 25 now so that should technically put me out of that high risk category. As for Grundy I probably won't go with them if seeing some of the stories I have heard about them but, I've also heard bad on Hagerty. I guess you'll hear good and bad with both of them.

Hagery says it makes a difference if you don't have the original engine then it is considered modified.

That thing about being over 25 reducing your insurance is a myth. If you're a male driver your insurance is higher. Hope you get it worked out.

Thanks 73340. You probably are right about it being a myth but, that depends upon the insurance company. I've heard of some insurance companies reducing your rate by 10% on the annual once you turn 25 years old. Also some companies will reduce your rate each year you keep a clean driving record as well. There is other factors that come into play but, at least that's the information I got.

Insurance is like playing blackjack, it's easy to lose no matter what you do. Company to company - state to state, you just got to shop around for the best ratio of premium cost to coverage and live within the limitations of the policy. I remember when our daughter began driving, the agent asked about her grades in high school, and since she was an honor student they gave us a little discount. I just mater of factly said thank you, but that is the stupidest d@mn thing I ever heard of, being an "A" student doesn't mean she will be a good or safe driver. Let's face it we have to have insurance, and hopefully we will never need to use it, but you can go years without filing a claim, does your premium go down? Nope, but get a ticket for doing 30 in a 25 and see what happens, my neighbor dosen't know who to shoot first, the cop or his insurance agent, :roflsmiley:

That's very true WSM. Insurance companies even go by your credit report now. Anyways, JC Taylor seems alright. I'm about getting a decent deal. $400 a year isn't horrible. Anyways, I'll let you know what they actually come up with.

One thing I forgot to mention, make sure the insurance will cover you for the kind of driving you will be doing. Some companies will only cover you to and from shows and similar events and some have anual mileage restrictions. I believe Grundy was the company that told me they would not cover any pleasure driving, only to shows and only 2500 miles/yr.

I have had Hagerty for quite awhile now....they once wanted to know if i was a dealer since i changed cars so often...LOL

They insure my 70 Cuda for $70k no problem, and insure my 91 stealth TT as an "exotic"....way cheaper than my regular insurance would cost me for the Stealth....$1500 from allstate verus $340 from Hagerty..I'm limited to 5K miles a year on the stealth and Cuda, occasional driving only, must be stored in a locked gargae/barn.. My total bill for the Cuda and Stealth is only around $700 per year.

Once had a claim with hagerty...no problems...but i was rear ended, so not my fault at all.

I have three cars with Grundy, yes there is restrictions with type of use, but they do not interfere with how we use these three cars anyway, but there is no limitation on miliage during the year, and yes the cars must be stored when not used within locked garages, like who would do otherwise anyway? For sure your age, driving record and even what part of the country you live determine the cost. Example: we used to live about 45 minutes from Philadelphia, Pa. when we moved back to Ohio where we live now, the same cars, same drivers etc., our preumium cost dropped nearly $400.00, this was our daily drivers under what would be considered "standard" insurance. Not specialized insurance for classic cars.

But I will check with Taylor, never heard of them before.
