Convertible top guides
« on: January 14, 2003 - 02:23:10 PM »
Does anybody know if e-body conv. with manual tops came with the  plastic guides that go on the top frame on each side by the 1/4 windows. I know cars with power tops have them but I not sure about manual top cars.

I have a 1971 Barracuda with the manual convertible top.  I'm not quite sure about what plastic guides you are referring to, so I'll have to go to the garage where my car is stored.  Give me some time to look into this and I will get back to you.  You should hear from me by Saturday, January 18th.

Yes,
Those black plastic square looking thing.
I know that they come on power top cars because I have them on mine. But do they also come on manual top cars ?????

I finally got around to looking at my 1971 Barracuda manual convertible top; it did not have those black square plastic things.  Reflections7's picture shows the two unique-to-manual-top hold down brackets (the metal brackets with the white plastic end), which my car has, but I have never seen those black plastic pieces on my car.

Stwheels, you say that every car you have had, manual or power top, had these black pieces.  Were they attached to the folding top frame?  Please, help js27 and I out so we know what parts we are missing.  Thanks.

I have photo's of where they go. As I said my 70 Challenger has them on. It is a power top car. My friend has a 70 Cuda 383 conv. with a manual top that doesn't have them on. We were just trying to figure out if his were missing or if manual top cars didn't have them at all.
Thanks for all your help,
