1975 and I was 18 yrs old and had a new 74 Duster with a 360.    Some friends and I were late and on our way to a funeral.   My track coach had drowned underneath a bunch of barges at the foot of Broadway.   I was driving too damn fast and we were on a two lane highway.  I got of the edge of the road into the gravel and got loose.   I tried to correct and went sliding across the centerline at 75 mph and just missed a tractor trailer rig coming the other way.      Just narrowly missed killing everyone in my car on the way to a funeral.

#2.   Heading home on a two lane embankment  driving a company car.  The highway was built on a levy because of frequent flooding.    Had just started snowing hard and about an inch of new snow.    A Roadway truck pulled out to pass me.    He was pulling pups.  (two short trailers) behind his tractor.  He bagan to fishtail like crazy, jackknifed the truck in my lane, I had the brakes also to avoid him and was starting to head up <under> one of his trailers with my car.  Instead the front of the car ricocheted off one of his wheels and I flew off the raised highway down 16 foot of enbankment and the car never rolled over.   Never......   He jumped out of his car after he turned his rig over and ran down to me.     Believe it or not other than a small dent on the front fender no damage to my car.    He destroyed a $100,00 rig.     My car was towed out an hour later and I went home to my family three weeks before Christmas....

My closest brush with death(as far as I know!)
1. Driving home from work, about 845pm...driving about 55mph, a car turned in front of me. It seemed like it was in slow motion. The next thing I knew I had came to a stop, with an airbag in my face! The doctor at the hospital told me my vest probably saved my life! The seat belt bent my vest metal breast plate!
Most recent scare!
2. I was responding to an asault by a husband on his wife, the husband was armed with a knife. They are in a car traveling east and I pass them west. I turn around on them and get him stopped, but he stopped in the outside lane of a 4 lane road! Husband jumps out, screaming, but no knife in his hand. I tell him to get on the ground, but he doesnt comply cause he is DEAF! His wife tells him to calm down and then he comes at me! After a few steps, he turns around and walks backward to me. (this is the scary part) i was focusing on the suspect and not traffic. I was about a foot off the center line fixin to grab this guy when a car zooms by me at about 60 mph!! I felt the wind from the car!! Al the bad guy would have had  to do is push me in the path of the car and im a gonner!!!

Once I almost went off a cliff with 5 people in my truck I had at the time. We all went up to see the snow. We don't get snow here much. I hit an icy patch and slid into another truck that was hanging over the cliffs edge. That truck saved my life. So we sat there looking at it. There was this hill just above us that the road went up to. Suddenly, a truck was coming from on the other side. I said to myself "Oh $hit." It plowed into the back of my truck sandwiching it between. It caused 7 grand in damage.
Another time, I passed an old lady in my Cuda on a curve on the right side. I was going about 50 mph. As soon as we cleared the curve there was a huge dumpster right in front of us. I went between the dumpster and the old lady with about a foot clearance on each side.
Then once I almost drove off a cliff in my Cuda because I couldn't see because it was so foggy. I got out and looked and another car length further I would of been dust.
