Found a gem in a salvage yard
« on: January 06, 2006 - 06:39:08 PM »
The place is called Little John's in Haltom City, Texas. It's a suburb of Fort Worth. Anyway, I was looking for some other parts for a friend today and came across a 71 (or 72) Charger. The engine was a big block, presumably a 400, and it's in long block form. (The intake and valve covers are gone.)  The best part is, the transmission is still in it. It's a 727 guys. The pan was missing, but the valve body and the rest appear to be intact.

As long as it wasn't overheated at some time in its life, the engine is a prime rebuild candidate. The transmission is the crown jewel. I understand 727s are getting harder and harder to find. If I had a need for it, the engine and trans would have been mine this afternoon. Money's tight, so I can't pull them and turn them on Ebay at the present time. Anyway, if you want more info, e-mail me at rj.rj2@verizon.net. Put Charger engine and trans in the subject line.
