Cuda exhaust tips

Over all the years of looking at Cuda's I have noticed that some of the Cudas exhaust tips stick out more than others. Even on perfect restored Cudas. I believe that they originally just came through a very small amount. So what is correct?

I'm not sure what is correct. I usually left alittle of the tip sticking out so you could see the chrome on them. They cost enough, might as well have a look at them!! lol

Same deal with Challengers. Kind of a personal preference I guess.
Would be nice if someone could produce some assembly line directives as to the correct process.

I'm also wondering what is the correct amount sticking out. I wish I had paid more attention to some of the original non restored cars I've looked at over the years.

I think there is a factory spec sheet going around I might have seen back in the day but I believe the tip shouldn't stick out more then half and inch tops but I bet a quarter is more correct

I like mine out just enough so that the exhaust gases dont leave deposits on the bumper/pan. About 3/4-1 inch sounds about right.
