Lack of repro parts?
« on: February 06, 2006 - 09:25:33 PM »
I'm a little surprised at how hard it is to find repro parts.  I own a 62 tbird and had a much easier time finding companies selling parts and I didn't think that car was nearly as popular as the Mopar e-bods  :dunno:

I'm particularly worried because the car I bought needs fenders and a grille... HOLY Sticker shock!    :22yikes:

I can't afford to pay 2 grand for a grille.  I mean, I know original parts are expensive and all, sheesh.

The actual reason for my post is to wonder if people have heard anything about any forthcoming repop manufacturers adding things like the grille/hood/fender etc that seem to be in high demand (those come to mind due to the very naked condition of the front half of the car I bought).  I don't think I can afford original parts!

I assume you are talking about the 72 cuda that you bought??  Fenders and a grill will cost some green but I think 2K for everything would be enough.  Make a list of what you are looking for and I believe someone will come up with something.  Aloha parts has been coming up with alot of hard to find goodies lately, I believe they are in Wisconsin.

Other than Goodmark fenders, that's about it. It has always been a problem finding parts for Mopars, and I've been doing it for 22 years.

Furd and chebby have had an easy time of it, but I think Mopar people are more resourceful, dig deeper and look farther. You will find help here, and other forums that will take up your cause, so don't be discouraged.

The the rise of popularity of the Chrysler name will bring new repro products in the near future, at least we all hope it.
